The Norman Howard School

  is an independent co-educational day school for students with learning disabilities in grades 5-12. We are an approved special education program by the New York State Education Department and accredited by the New York Association of Independent Schools. Our program supports many students with various types of learning disabilities, including dyslexia, non-verbal LD, Asperger's Syndrome and ADHD. The Norman Howard School program combines strategies and remediation with an individualized learning plan in a supportive environment. We foster students' understanding of themselves as a learner and promote self-exploration through an array of special programs such asphotography, industrial arts and videography. Each classroom maintains a size of 12 students, with one teacher and a teaching assistant.
